As of [[2531]], they were old technology, and they never quite panned out, but some were still around. What exactly they were intended to be used for was never specifically stated, but it is possible that they were to be used to lift heavy ordinance by causing it to float, lifting it up, and making it levitate for easy transport. It is likely that they were based on the use of electromagnetics rather than actual gravity (all objects have magnetic attraction, but most are very weak. A powerful enough electromagnet could function as a psuedo-gravity generator), given the surprise of the UNSC to find true artificial gravity technology on the first Covenant ship they boarded.

The Antigravity Plate is a technology invented by the UNSC. It was designed to create artificial gravity for the UNSC's Fleet of ships.

Background

As of 2531, they were old technology, and they never quite panned out, but some were still around.

Operational History

In 2531, the United Rebel Front acquired one of these and used it in an elaborate attempt to capture a team of Spartan-IIs. With a focused beam from the plate, the MJOLNIR Armor sensor systems were tricked into thinking they were in a 10-G environment. The armor increased internal pressure to compensate and rendered them unconscious, allowing the rebels to capture them with Neural Inhibitor Collars. [1] Although the tactic was remarkably effective and only failed because Spartan-051 had not been caught in the ambush, there is no further record about it's use.
