Time to go to work...
The Covenant are total losers, yeah. I mean, it's not like they were a space-faring species capable of glassing planets while humans were competing with our stronger cousins, the neanderthals, for food. It's not like the Covenant launched an extremely succesful crusade (until the very last two battles) against the UNSC and beat Humanity all the back to Earth and was very capable of glassing the entire planet.
Barring High Chairty, Supercarriers, and Ancient ships, the Infinity is larger than all other ships in the Halo Universe. She is also packing enough firepower to punch holes through Forerunner armour, and it is well established that the Forerunners could casually beat the Galactic Empire (Legends canon) like its an average week. The Infinity carriers somewhere around twelve or fourteen of the new frigates inside of her, and has all known Spartan IVs. The Infinity has the fastest and most precise slipspace drive in the galaxy since the Forerunners.
The Pillar of Autumn was smaller and far weaker. One of the new frigates the Infinity literally carriers could tear the Autumn in half with little effort.
The Covenant almost doesn't innovate. Their advancement is entirely dependent on what the engineers feel like doing.
The Imperium of Man swats the entirety of the UNSC and Covenant aside like pesky mosquitos.
The augmentations of the Spartan IVs are arguably better than the IIs and IIIs, and the Spartan IVs come default with better armour than the IIs and IIIs.
