Carl Friedrich Gauss was a German mathematician and scientist who contributed to a number of fields, including magnetism. He pioneered the principle of magnetic induction, the basic principle behind much of the UNSC's weaponry, including MAC cannons.[1] Some such weapons are named after him, for example the M68 Gauss Cannon and the M555 Gauss Cannon.
