Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force (CMSAF) is the highest enlisted rank in the UNSC Air Force, and is equal in pay-grade to Chief Master Sergeant and Command Chief Master Sergeant, and is above Senior Master Sergeant. The pay grade for Chief Master Sergeant is E-9, and is the highest enlisted rank in the UNSCAF.

The Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force is selected by the Air Force Chief of Staff. The CMSAF is the senior enlisted member in the Air Force, with a 3-star protocol equivalency. The CMSAF represents entire Air Force enlisted force, and speaks on behalf of the enlisted members of the service to Air Force and UNSCDF senior leadership.

The CMSAF is one of four Service Senior Enlisted Leaders. Each Service has a rank for the senior enlisted member of that Military Service. Only one Soldier, Marine, Sailor, or Airman can hold this rank at any one time. The other three are: Sergeant Major of the Army (SMA), Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps (SgtMajMajCor), and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON).
