There has been debate that certain armor permutations affect the hit box, this is not true. It was also thought that the hit boxes on an Elite were different than that of a Spartan (for multiplayer), this has been disproved multiple times and stated explicitly by Bungie community manager Frankie and Sketchfactor in numerous weekly updates..

Template:Ratings Both the Spartan and Elite player models have hit boxes or collision models. This is an invisible box around the characters, hitting the box will count as hitting the visible portion of the character. This box extends beyond the visible part of a character, so firing just next to the head of a spartan or elite will count as a headshot.
