The Covenant are an alien species that inhabit the galaxy, operating from their home planet of High Charity. The Covenant is a political, military, and religious affiliation. They are currently at war with humanity.

History[]

War with Humanity[]

When humanity colonized the extrasolar systems, they were met with force by the alien race that sought to destroy humanity. The war raged for hundreds of years, with the Covenant's home planet never being found. The Covenant sought artifacts from their religion that had the power to begin the Great Journey to the Sacred Ring. Their search led them to a human woman who could activate the keystones. They called her the Blessed One and gave her a place in their society. When she came of age, she guided them to discovering the individual artifacts. The High Council's search led to the destruction of a Madrigal outpost, the slaughter of a UNSC Gladius ship crew, and a bloody battle on their home planet of High Charity.

Religion and Culture[]

The Covenant have a specific religion that is elusive to humans. One of their religious artifacts are the Keystones, which are were left behind from another time and scattered across the galaxies. The Covenant seek these objects to access a sacred ring, though they can only be activated by a Blessed One. They discovered that Makee, a human woman, was a Blessed One and accepted her as a revered member of their community.

Military[]

Similar to other civilizations, the Covenant have a branch of armed forces used to enforce, intimidate, or wage wars. Some of the military are members of the Elite, and are dispatched to other planets to fight humans or search for lost artifacts. They are merciless in their killings, operating without hesitation in the face of death. They can only be killed by extreme warfare, usually waged by the Spartans.

Technology[]

While Covenant technology is far more advanced than human technology, the Covenant seem to be ignorant of how precise or powerful their technology can actually be. Their weapons are much more diverse and lethal, seemingly based on plasma, lasers, and crystals. Their ships are more reliable and efficient, though they lack the ability to develop new technology.
