From The Vault is the twelfth song on the track-listing from the Halo: Reach Original Soundtrack that ties some past songs from the Original Halo Trilogy into a 4:59 long compilation.

The song starts with a roll from a muted concert bass drum, and slowly cross-fades into a constant drum beat played on muted concert toms which accompanies the various melodies of the song until 1:13, where a muted drum set then takes over.

The songs (in order) which are played in this compilation are as follows: Farthest Outpost from the Halo 3 OST, Released from the Halo 3 OST, Dust and Echoes from the Halo: Combat Evolved OST,  sub-melody Weight of Failure from song Prologue from the Halo 2 OST, and finishes with sub-melody Small Victory (The Ark) from song Behold A Pale Horse from the Halo 3 OST.

The goal of this song was to harvest nostalgia from the past melodies from the Original Halo Trilogy, similar to Unforgotten from the Halo 2 OST being placed at the end of the Halo 4 campaign.

Trivia[]

  • The title From The Vault may refer to the fact that the musical excerpts in this track are taken from Bungie's "Vault of Music." This track is played when you enter the Tribute Room.
  • There are similar drum tracks found throughout the Halo 3: ODST OST.
