James was a lieutenant aboard the UNSC Infinity.
After the Promethean attack, Captain Thomas Lasky ordered the UNSC Infinity to pull out of detecting range. Lieutenant James informed Lasky that the controls of the ship weren't responding. Eventually Fireteam Majestic and Fireteam Crimson were sent to deactivate several artifacts that kept the UNSC Infinity in place. Afterwards James was able to move the Infinity away.[1]
