Louis-036 is a character in the second season of Halo: The Television Series.
Louis-036 is a blind, former Spartan who has found fulfillment in life outside the usual combat-driven state of being a Spartan.
Biography[]
Louis, like the rest of the Spartans, was kidnapped at the age of six by Dr. Catherine Halsey and replaced by a clone so his parents would mourn the death of their child.[1] Once in the Spartan training program, Louis trained to be an elite soldier. He underwent the Spartan's mental programming that eradicated his memory of his life prior to his enlistment. The programming made him compliant with orders and averse to disobedience or questions. He wrongly believed he had willingly surrendered himself to the UNSC.[2] Louis was one of the best Spartans and fought in a few battles. A couple days after he completed augmentation, Louis began to see dark spots in the corners of his vision. He wanted to be a Spartan and not a blind guy who couldn't cut it, so he ignored the symptoms. One of his last memories was seeing Riz-028 with Silver Team. Louis went completely blind and was discharged from the Spartan program, though he stayed involved as a trainer.[3]
Helping Riz[]
Louis trains with Riz in the Spartan gym when he notices her pain and discomfort. She lies that she is fine and doesn't notice the pain. He proves himself right with a simple touch. He knows she and the Spartans are assholes who are conditioned to fight in wars and never expect their bodies to fight back. He believes that he can help her and, after a brutal day of training with her team, Riz accepts Louis's offer. He takes her to a healer named Danilo who helped Louis when he lost his vision.[3]
Riz visits Louis after Silver Team is stripped from combat deployment. His boyfriend Danilo is cooking in the kitchen and invites Riz to join them for dinner despite Louis's gruff objections to this ruining date night. Riz came to them by accident as she started walking and didn't know where else to go. She asks Louis what he meant before about there being other ways to live.[4]
Fall of Reach[]
Covenant forces attack Reach[4] forcing Louis, Riz, and Danilo to take action to protect the planet to the best of their abilities. Louis equips himself with a weapon and uses his sense of hearing to locate the Covenant's locations. He and Danilo travel with Riz, John, and Perez to FLEETCOM. They seek shelter in a building where they are ambushed by Elite. Danilo is killed by a plasma blast. Riz takes a second to mourn before throwing a grenade into the building and evacuating with the rest of her team. Louis asks where Danilo is and Riz must tell him that Danilo isn't coming. A Wraith lands on the street outgunning the small fleet. Louis straps himself with explosives and sacrifices himself so the others can escape. His sacrifice defeats the Wraith and aids the others in getting to FLEETCOM, where they'll have a chance at defending the planet.[5]
