One of the Marines stationed at Diego Garcia, McKenzie was from the 405th Marine Infantry Division. He, along with Sergeant Banks and Corporal Perez, were sent to New Mombasa during The First Battle of Earth. While there, they met up with SPARTAN-117, and with his help, the Marines trapped and destroyed a Scarab walker.

McKenzie was then evacuated with the Chief and they traveled to Installation 05 aboard the UNSC In Amber Clad. He traveled with Perez, Sergeant Major Johnson, and Commander Miranda Keyes to the Library to retrieve the Index. Just before Miranda and Johnson were ambushed by the Arbiter, Johnson asked McKenzie and Corporal Perez the following, "How's our exit?". There was no response. They were killed by the Flood. You can see the bodies of two Marines laying near a group of dead Flood Combat Forms, on your way into the Index room. Due to the lack of response from Johnson's radio message, it is presumed that these are the corpses, or unconsius bodies of the two marines, McKenzie and Perez. File:McKenzie.jpg
