Halo SA Mission C

Merg Vol, shortly before his assassination by Spartan Sarah Palmer.

Merg Vol's Covenant was a short-lived Covenant remnant faction led by the Sangheili warlord Merg Vol. It was formed in the aftermath of the Human-Covenant war, and the destruction of the Covenant Empire.

History[]

Merg Vol formed his Covenant at some point after 2552. The faction was able to procure several starships to aid in their efforts, including at least four CCS-class battlecruisers and three CAS-class assault carriers.

Battle of Draetheus V[]

Main article: Battle of Draetheus V

In 2554, Merg Vol's Covenant became the first faction to ignore the ceasefire brokered in 2553 at the end of the Human-Covenant war. They launched an attack on the UEG research colony on the planet Draetheus V. The UNSC Navy was obliterated in orbit as Covenant forces landed on Draetheus V's surface and on its moon X50. As Covenant forces continued to push back UNSC forces, it was discovered that X50 was in fact an ancient Forerunner artifact, designed to construct artificial worlds such as Requiem and Genesis.

In order to obliterate the remaining human presence in the Draetheus system, Vol activated the moon and used it to begin disassembling the planet below for raw materials. Before his plan could be successful, Spartan Sarah Palmer tracked Vol to the artifact's control room and killed him in combat. Much of Vol's fleet was crippled or destroyed in the battle, leaving the faction wounded, and it is assumed to have either disbanded or been absorbed into Jul 'Mdama's Covenant.

Organization[]

The Sangheili serve as the faction's military leadership caste, as they were in the original Covenant prior to the Great Schism.
