Objective-based games are multiplayer game types in which the main objective of the match is not to kill the opponent, but to accomplish a certain objective (such as defending a certain object or area). However, in some gametypes, killing enemies can give points towards the end goal, such as Dominion and Warzone.

All of them are team-only games except Oddball and King of the Hill, which can also be played individually. In these games, the player often communicates with his/her team and cooperate in order to have a solid chance of winning.
