  • So by the look of it there are no Jackals in halo wars 2, which doesnt make much sense since a large chunk of the population are either mercs/pirates, which makes me think if the jackals are like this, why where some not recruited by the banished in HW2 it honestly makes little sense.

But it got me thinking maybe they could be added in a DLC in the future, since it looks like they are adding in a new leader every month as DLC, it would be quite surpprising if they didnt, since they are the only covenant race in the series which have not been added in.

Although i can imagine the faction using a mix of both tech from both the Human and the covenant which would be quite cool to use, but we will have to see in the future if they do or do not add them in

    • I was thinking the same thing It's strange that there isn't we can't have a halo RTS without jackals! maybe we could have a kig yar pirate leader as dlc that could work since they're non canon leaders

    • Or it may be as simple as Atriox doesn't trust or like them enough to use them at the Ark.

    • It would make sense if atriox recruited kig yar merc veterans to his cause on the ark because maybe they might know something of value on the ark that the banished don't know

    • Jackals have only been to the Ark twice in known history: Just before the firing of the Halos and at the end of the war. The former are long dead and it is doubtful any of the later survived to see the Banished arrived.

In short, how many Jackals are there that know what valuables the Ark holds and still live? My guess is none.

    • They probably still could be a thing kig yars are treated like scouts and the banished probably need them to scout out forerunner tech, leftover weapons etc

    • Or perhaps extrapolate on the Kig-Yar Pirate Leader. Perhaps it could be a way to reintroduce the Ruutians and T'vaoans back into the fold as unique units.

I cant believe i am agreeing to a Geth but i fully agree! The could have the Ruutians as sniper troops, the Ibie'shans as standard squads with sheilds and the T'vaoans as fast attack troops where you can use them to scout out areas and get the drop on lone units.

Funny enough, HiddenXperia did a HW2 leader speculation. An example he put forth was a Kig-Yar pirate, and the troop types he mentioned were exactly the same as yours. I extrapolated on this notion by having grunts accompany these jackal squads.

What sort of artstyle and vehicles do you think they would use?

    • Haha Did he? i havent watched him in a long time, i might have to check out some of his newer videos

Anyways i wouldnt have grunts accompany the Kig-yar mainly because the Kig-yar have a lot of bad blood against the Unggoy, so it wouldnt really make much sense for them working together, and for the vehicles i would see them using a mix of Human and original covernant tec (Although they will have to have the vehicles balanced so they dont have the most OP of both factions), although all there tec looks in bad condition compared to everyones elses, which fits the theme of them being scavengers/pirates who try and scrap together what ever they need.

    • I wouldn't think of the grunts and Jackals working together as much as the grunts are subservient to the Jackals through no choice of their own. Or perhaps they're both piratical in nature and they are working together.

I wonder what species the leader would be, and what sort of hero powers would be available to him?

No joke i would more likely see Humans working with the Kig-yar them the Unggoy, which makes me think the Kig-yar faction could probably have humans serving in there ranks and they could be there to fill in any of the roles which normal Kig-yar units cant fill.

Anyways for the leader i would see a Ruutian Pirate queen/Ship mistress, kinda like Chur'R yar (Even though she wasnt a pirate)

    • Kig yar and human co operations have happened even at the start of the war with trades with the kig yar and the insurrectionists

    • A Kig-Yar leader in Halo Wars 2 would be amazing! I really hope that'll be a DLC or part of an update later.
