Unbound is the second episode of the first season of Halo. It aired on March 31, 2022, only on Paramount+.

Synopsis[]

John takes Kwan to an old friend and learns more about the mystery object, which the Covenant and Makee are determined to steal. With the alien threat growing, Dr. Halsey has a plan to deal with John's unpredictable behavior.

Plot[]

22-years ago, a young John-117 sneaks out of the UNSC Spartan Training Center to meet with Soren-066. The teens planned to defect from the UNSC, as Soren has realized the programming being done by Dr. Halsey. He wants John to come with him, but John can't let him leave as he has protocols to obey. He threatens to shoot Soren if he leaves, but Soren appeals to what little emotion John still has. John fakes that his weapon is defective and gives Soren a five minute head start before he awakens the entire camp.
