Today, voting closed on Halo Nation's community vote on whether to leave Wikia, with the final votes tallying to 13 in support, compared to 2 in opposition. As a result, Halo Nation will be leaving Wikia and merging with Halopedia!
In the coming weeks, we will be executing the plan we laid out in our blog post, exactly as it was voted on by the community. The wiki that remains here, at
halo.fandom.com, will be renamed and given a new logo and theme. Meanwhile, all of Halo Nation's content will be copied to a temporary wiki and merged into Halopedia's existing content on a case-by-case basis. For a more in-depth explanation of what will be happening, please see the plan outlined on Halopedia here, and on Halo Nation here.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does this mean for me?
If you're a reader of Halo Nation, it means that the wiki you're used to reading from is now moving to a new location, www.halopedia.org. There will still be a wiki here, at
halo.fandom.com, but the vast majority of its editors will have left. We strongly recommend that you start visiting Halopedia for your Halo info instead of here, as once we move, we will no longer be able to guarantee that this wiki stays up to date!
If you're an editor, it means that most of your fellow editors will no longer be active here, and will instead begin editing over on Halopedia. Although it is your choice, we recommend you join us there too, and we sincerely hope to see you all over there!
How long will this take?
We aim to keep disruption to a minimum on both sides. However, we expect the process of leaving to take at least a week, and potentially up to around a month. We will keep you informed on the Halo Nation merger forum thread. As for actually merging Halo Nation's content from the temporary wiki into Halopedia, that is a much longer process, which will run concurrently to normal wiki editing and does not have a predicted/targetted end date.
Halo Nation - the wiki you're on now - is merging with Halopedia. There will still be a wiki hosted here, at
halo.fandom.com, but the vast majority of its editors will have moved to our new home, so it may not stay up-to-date. Whether you're a reader or an editor, we strongly recommend you come too!
