Reform

Hi - Forerunner, here!

I decided to write this blog post as a way of making sure that enough of you know of the reforms we are planning to make editing a better experience for everyone. We propose a constitution to make your treatment much more fairer. We propose aspects such as a fully-codified constitution to allow users to know what it is they can and cannot do and better management of wiki pages (no unnecessary locking of articles).

We also support A properly-managed administration, with a much greater administrator and rollback user size, and a more defined relationship between the administration and the user population.

Vote now on the first of our referendums on the Protection of pages while you still have a chance. You have the abilit…

The Assault on the Control Room and other engagements

I have noticed that, although the majority of these fights were important to the UNSC forces on Installation 04, a lot do not have their own pages, and most that do are quickly deleted.

  • The First Raid on the Pillar of Autumn - the Covenant board the ship, hoping to destroy it without endangering the ring (ie. taking control and flying it away). The boarders are defeated, though the crew and marines are evacuated and the ODSTs drop on their first mission.
  • The First Raid on the Truth and Reconciliation - an important special mission to rescue key members of the Pillar of Autumn's crew, of which only Keyes survived imprisonment. (Might be merged with the 'First' and 'Third' if not enough information is available)
  • Second Raid on the Pillar of Aut…

RfD/M reorganisation and updates to voting requirement rules

Requests for Deletions and Moves are beginning to clut up pages. Like what Wikipedia has done, I suggest that we move RfDs and RfMs to their own page. For example, an RfD occuring in May 2010 for the Battle of Eridanus II would be called Talk:Battle of Eridanus II/RfD May 2010 (that way you can make multiple RfDs when new information arrives without having a lot of opposes from people back before the information was known.

I also suggest that we make updates to the voting requirements. I have seen many times IPs and new users voting for or against things they simply do not understand. I suggest that, upon using RfD and RfM subpages, we implement rules for their use, including the following:

  • Only Registered users are allowed to edit (The subpag…

Slipspace velocity

As I remember, the "Shaw-Fujikawa Translight Engine" (along with its Covenant and Forerunner equivilants) send and only send you in and out of Slipstream space, where you use your own momentum to travel.

This means that the many pages with "2.1ly/day" on are incorrect, of which nearly all human ships have it on their pages.

As a Cruiser is faster than a Corvette in normal space, it too is faster in slipsteam space, thus will arrive at a targetted location faster.

Standardised Measurements

After witnessing an annoying set of edit wars, I am suggesting a standardised way of measuring.

Meters is used by the UNSC primarily, and has been used to measure small items and vehicles. Feet and Inches have been used to measure the heights of Species and how long a ship is (if not in Kilometres).

Using the template I have devised:

creates

This also generates a footnote, so that someone can identify how to compare the measurement systems:
